I’m going to love them - just wait until my truck and caravan are delivered next year. Will update with photos and a review then.
And possibly when I have to use them.

Product is good quality, however they now have released an updated model that uses the Maxtrax mounting holes. It is shame that the Gen3 trax donot have these mounting holes.

Very happy with my purchase , item is exactly as advertised and delivered in a timely fashion

Bought a set for our trip to Fraser, luckily the hilux never needed them! They do look cool on the back of the Ute though and my favourite colour

Great tracks.
Just need a few more.

I got these for my first time beach camping. Clearly I'd been too ambitious getting to a place with talcum powder like silty sand that was way our of my experience level. So ended up "parked" within ten minutes. The Gen 3.0 tracks had me out quickly and easily saving me big time. I doubt any recovery vehicle would have gone out to that isolated spot to help me. Like everyone else says, I hoped I wouldn't need them but sure was glad I had them when I did. They look well made and built for purpose so as soon as they arrived I was super relieved that I hadn't wasted my money.

Got the recovery boards really fast from ordering, they appear well made and sturdy, cover off everything you need with straps and bindings etc. Not yet put them to use but from all appearances and feel they will do the job well and for a bloody good price

Stacked up easy and kept together easy. The bolt price needed tightening over time but held up. Very strong material and light weight. Used them 3 times at a family farms swamp area. Impressed everyone there. Got myself out and got a few younger cousins out too. AWESOME product! I'm definitely going to get 2 more soon to complete the 4 set. Also recommend getting some mounts to mount 2 on each side of your vehicle.

I keep these boards on the roof rack of my Jeep Wrangler they are very durable and high quality also the customer service is excellent if you have any questions or concerns they are very quick and helpful .
Howdy
Inevitably, you may need to use this set to self-recover or use them to help a fellow off-roader out of a tough spot. At this price , you can almost call them a disposable item. The X-BULL is so much better of an option than my 'younger man' days of shoving logs, sticks, pieces of lumber, etc. under your tires to give you just enough bite to sling muddy rooster tails on your buddies helping push you out (ah! the good ol' days - thanks buds!).
They are tough, well made and will serve their purpose in multiple settings. To avoid UV deterioration (which also affects the MaxTrax by the way), I keep them inside the vehicle. The X-BULLs do not stack as cleanly as MaxTrax, but that's not a huge factor for me. Plus, they came in a cheap black zipper bag with a carrying handle, which will likely never survive the first time you try to shove a muddy or abused pair back inside... but it's a nice touch. So be prepared - if you store them inside - it could get messy... but typically if you have to take these out, you are probably messy already.
I feel the need to remind customers purchasing traction devices, you are buying these to run over - typically in gnarly terrain - to get you out of a jam, unstuck, or over a difficult approach. You will scuff ANY brand up even if you run them over in your driveway or spin out your tires on them. Traction pads are meant to be another tool in your off-road kit that can be used to solve problems on the trail. HINT: Winches, snatch straps, tow ropes, jacks, etc. are also other tools that can aid in recovery.
Look online for a review video by some great overlanding Australian YouTubers - "Which is the best 4x4 Recovery Tracks" (08 FEB 2020) who did "tests" on all the various types of traction devices on the market. The X-BULLs held up to some of their ridiculously brutal trials. Did they win? No. Were they the worst? Not even close. They held up sufficiently to be highly competitive all-around in my opinion, and extremely affordable for the average off-roader who'd rather spend $300 on more important upgrades to their rigs.
MaxTrax are unquestionably the absolute best... but to me, these XBULL's are the 'everyman off-roader's - more than good enough!'
Happy trails!

They were exactly what I expected them to be. It was easy to assemble on my track. I have no complaints whatsoever.
Cody
Have only got to use once so far but they held up in a sticky situation. Depending on where you mount you might need extra bolts and nuts to secure for better ride stability down the road.

they look great, the quality is amazing

Product worked as advertised

Have these mounted in the back of my truck as well as a mini set in all our other vehicles. Great for snow, sand, and general off-roading or emergencies. Holding up well and definitely worth it over the more expensive versions, especially if you plan on seldomly using them.I encourage everyone to get a bright color as it's easier to see in the dirt, snow, mud and even at night.
Richard
Good material the only bad thing is that they don't linde up inside the other causing them to look very raised but you pay for what you get I thought that paying more than 300 at the moment was absolutely unnecessary for something that is not going to be used as much. Maybe down the line I might get 300 hundred dollars ones for a better looking on the truck. Thanks!

So I bought these back in 2020. Honestly, they¡¯ve lived in the shop for the last year or 2 as I got tired of carrying them around. Until today!! I was moving our bus around in the yard when I decided to drive across a soft ditch line¡. Yeah, not my smartest move.. however, enter the x-bull traction boards! I grabbed them from the shop, dug just enough to let the board get against the tire, got in, gave it some gas and it popped right out. Surprised me! I never really thought this was gonna work, but didn¡¯t want to have to go get the tractor, chains, and extra help to pull it out, so I gave it a try. It did warp the one it buried in the mud, but I honestly don¡¯t care. It saved me a ton of time/trouble and this bud weighs A LOT more than their rating. So I¡¯m ok with damaged boards at this point. Also note worthy, it did not break with a bus on it. Warped, yes. Broken/cracked, nope!
Steve
It was a good thing I bought these boards or I would have been stuck for hours but thanks to the boards I was able to get out of the sand with my truck and trailer. They really worked
wilman
They are thick which helps them maintain their shape underload. I haven't personally used them with my SUV but I've helped out two cars get out of the sand with no problems. They didn't really flex at all but I'm guessing with the weight of my Escalade they might bow out more or crack which isn't really a problem if it gets you unstuck. As you can see in the picture they don't sit as flush together as the MAXTRAXs. The military color is similar to the picture and they haven't faded after 2 years on the roof.

The week I bought them, I had to use them on the weekend. They got me out of a bind easily. I am a believer now.

I wanted to hate these....
But they held up during a snow recovery. Used these boards to recover a full loaded Tacoma stuck in the snow. They didnot break after several uses that day.
Liked them so much I ordered another set.
Highly recommend.
Bryan Motzkus
Got into some spring snow, sank, iced out the top and would have been there for a while without these! Used a side as a shovel, pushed both boards under rear tires and just idled onto them and out of trouble. Works like a magic traction carpet! Near instant recovery, I see no damage to any of the knobs - worked great!Make sure not to spin tires on these as you had probably melt the traction knobs but I gave it a little gas to create momentum and they held up perfect!F150 4x4

I bought these after sticking my sprinter van deep in sand traps outside of Bishop, CA. I sat out there a few hours before someone else came along and had some trax to get me out. My van is overweighted at about 9,000 lbs. No easy task holding up to the abuse and weight of this german monster. When researching my own, I couldn't swallow the price of the maxtrax and bought these after watching a few youtube videos. Fastforward a few years, and these tracks have been CLUTCH.
Stuck on the beach on the Oregon Coast, a stranger's truck stuck in the snow somewhere in the Colorado mountains, or stuck in those same stupid sand traps in the Sierra Nevada range, these tracks have been lifesavers multiple times. If you know what you're doing while getting out, and don't spin your tires on them aggressively, they last great. I was abit wary of the sun uv rays abusing the plastic integrity so I have always stored them inside the van, but after 2 years I'm switching them to the roof and will see how that affects them. Worse case scenario, they dry, crack, and I buy another set. I could buy 5 more sets and STILL not pay what maxtrax cost. Work smarter people.
TLDR; for the price, these are better than maxtrax. I HIGHLY recommend them. Multiple uses, no worse for the wear.

I've used these in a number of occasions and never had any issues with cracking.
Unfortunately, they will fade. I put my racks on my roof mid 2020 and have had them on nearly every day till Dec 2022.
The photo shows the fade that will occur in about 2 years continuously on the roof.
This is an aesthetic flaw and not a functionality flaw but it's worth considering. I'm just lazy and keep my racks on the roof 24/7.
Other than that, can't complain. Cheers.
Eric Walker
I was a bit hesitant on buying these as they were priced really low. I went with these due to the fact I have a JL 4dr and I dont have a lot of space on the back to mount these. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality on them. Compared to the more expensive brands, this is worth the bang for the buck. I also didnt want to spend a lot in case someone steals them off my rack.
Richard the Exhaler
Ill never leave home without them. Got stuck near Joshua tree by myself without cell service. Helped me out of the sand and safely down the hill.
Decent price for what it does. No need to get the high end 3x the price boards unless you're a clout chaser.

TL;DR These are the perfect length and angle to fit between the rear seat floor hump and the rear door. Like EXACTLY. Hope to never have to use these because I think and don't get stuck.
Bag and mounting kit seem ok. Nothing standard and it would take additional hardware to mount on stock 4runner roof rails.
Use the for back of 2020 4runner hump to flatten out a laying surface - I'm hoping to having never a need to use them for the intended purpose!
But sleeping with that hump in the back is a royal pain and I had one too many sleepless nights in the back of my 4runner for two 3 night trips.
I needed to figure out how to solve the hump in behind the rear seat when I sleep in my 4runner out in the middle of no where.
By chance, these tracks fit perfectly between the rear door and the backseat with the correct angle when turned upside down. Then I use cardboard from something else I purchased and it just happened to be the correct width and added a moving pad from a freight store and it works perfectly. Sleep with head at rear door and let feet hang over the edge.
Remove the rear bottom seat with two 14mm bolts and move the passenger seat up and use an air mattress and it becomes The 4Runner Motel

We used these to get out of a mud hole our RV was in. The weight of our RV is 32,000 lbs. these worked perfectly and only one small crack in a board.

Gen 3 Worked great getting out of deep loose sand!

I was able to test these tonight with my K2500 Suburban 4X4. I was wheeling alone at night after a the first Pacific Northwest snow storm of the season and got stuck in some nasty clay. I deployed the boards as planned as the truck crawled right out of the mud. I only have one pair and used them behind the rear tires to back out of the spot I was stuck. Worked great! Im getting a second set just in case since my truck is so heavy and I often overland with my family and a lot of gear.

Great value and will get you unstuck. Yes they may crack in cold conditions, or under a large vehicle or truck. But they have held up fine for my 1st gen Tacoma.
If you are like me and do not want to spend $300 on maxtrax just buy these and stop thinking about it, they work! Just dont expect to use them like a bridge.
